Will anybody help me with meaning of German word "Wahldeutscher"? Now I am translating one historycal book about Germany after First World War and could not find any explanation - neither in my dictionaries, nor in internet... I suppose this word have some relation with changes in european borders after I.WW, but what does it means exactly?<br />
I will be very grateful for any help. You can write English or German - any of these languages are understandable for me, although my native is Russian... |

The new website looks very good! I am proud to be part of the German IoL society, despite having lived in the UK for 16 years. I gained a husband from the WGS in 1991 and we're still enjoying a steady influx of translation work.
We look forward to seeing other linguists from time to time when we are in Germany. |

Hi All,
I'm a long-standing but rather passive member of the GS, the passiveness due to my busy work and family schedule and my location in South Germany, making it difficult for me to attend meetings. However, the new website is very appealing and perhaps it will serve to open up the society to members like me.
Something that would be of interest to me would be for documents used at workshops to be posted online. I'm very interested, for example, in the translation of university and school certificates, which is due to be discussed at the coming workshop on 7 Nov in Frankfurt/Main. Maybe the samples for practice could be put somewhere on the website?
